Rick Toering

Outside General Counsel & Legal Advisor

Rick manages his eponymous firm, Toering Patents PLLC. Previously, he was a partner in the Northern Virginia office of Womble, Carlyle, Sandridge & Rice PLLC, practicing in the Intellectual Property Section. He counsels clients in patent matters with a focus on the strategic development and procurement of patent portfolios. He routinely provides counsel regarding intellectual property matters in connection with financings, mergers and acquisitions.

Rick is an adjunct professor at The George Washington University Law School where he teaches Patent Management and Strategy.

Prior to attending law school, Rick was a Systems Engineer for General Electric and graduated from GE’s Advanced Course in Engineering. In addition to his law degree from The George Washington University, he holds an MS degree in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and BS degrees in Electrical Engineering and Engineering Management from Michigan Technological University.

For Ambature, Rick is acting Ambature General Counsel and legal advisor to the board of directors. In addition, he is responsible for the development of the initial patent applications and IP strategy related to Ambature’s core technology.
